Consistent experience again

This is my third site built on Webflow. I've used their CMS and hosting for a couple of projects already, and this latest one was just as smooth. The designer hasn't changed much, which is good because I know my way around it. Uploading assets and setting up dynamic content was as reliable as ever. It's why I keep coming back for new projects.

Good value for annual plan

I was looking for a website builder and Webflow kept popping up. Decided to try the annual billing to save some money, got that 20% off which was a nice bonus. The free starter plan let me mess around first, which helped me commit. It feels like a solid investment for what you get, especially avoiding monthly payments.

Easy to build

Needed a site fast. Webflow Designer was easy to pick up. Launched it in under a week. Hosting works. Good service.

Mostly good, minor issues

I used Webflow for a new portfolio site, leveraging their responsive design tools and CMS. The visual builder is fantastic, making design much quicker than coding from scratch. Setting up custom domains was straightforward, and the SSL certificate integration worked flawlessly. My only small gripe was with the initial learning curve; some of the more advanced interactions took a bit longer to figure out even with Webflow University. Overall, it's a powerful platform and I'm happy with the outcome, but a few tutorials could be more direct for specific advanced features.

My new site is up!

So, I finally got around to making a site for my side hustle. Decided to go with Webflow because everyone says it's good for no-code. Honestly, it was pretty cool. I used one of their templates, tweaked it a bunch, and now it's live! Didn't even have to mess with code, which was great. The editor made it easy to update content too. Happy with how it all turned out.

Comprehensive platform for web projects

I recently launched a new e-commerce site using Webflow, and the experience was quite thorough. Starting with the Webflow Designer, I found the Flexbox and Grid Layouts incredibly powerful for building a responsive design. Integrating custom code for a few specific widgets was seamless, which is a big plus. The Webflow CMS allowed for easy management of product listings, and the e-commerce features handled inventory and orders well. Their CDN Hosting kept the site fast, and the Site Activity Log was helpful for tracking changes made by my team. Customer support responded within a day when I had a question about setting up Webhooks. The only minor improvement I'd suggest is making the AI Assistant more intuitive for complex design suggestions; sometimes it gave generic advice. But for a full-featured web development platform, it delivered on its promises.

planning to build a few client sites, do they have any sort of discount if you pay annually or for multiple sites?

S Steve Doyle 2 months ago
Yeah, if you pay yearly for a plan, you usually get about 20% off compared to monthly. Not sure about a specific 'multiple site' discount, but that annual saving helps a lot.

They have different Workspace plans which are better if you're managing multiple projects. The annual discount is a pretty standard thing across all their paid plans, afaik.

My kid is starting a web dev course, is there a student discount for Webflow? Wanted to get him something better than just the free tier.

C Cleo Doyle 2 months ago
Yep, there absolutely is! Students can get a free CMS plan for a year. He'll need to apply with his student ID or email, but it's a solid deal.

Yeah, check their site. I think it's through a specific application process, not just a simple promo code, but it's worth it.

Is Webflow complicated for someone who's never done web design before? Like, can a total beginner actually use it without getting overwhelmed?

J Julia E. 2 months ago
Honestly, there's a learning curve for sure. It's not as simple as Wix drag-and-drop. But Webflow University is seriously good, tons of free lessons.

I started as a complete noob. It took time, but it's totally doable. If you're willing to put in the effort to learn, it's super powerful. Don't expect instant results though.

Hey, thinking about switching to Webflow from Squarespace. Is it really that much better for SEO, like people claim? Or just more hassle?

J Julia 1 month ago
From my experience, yeah, it's way better. You have so much more control over everything, meta tags, schema, custom redirects. Squarespace felt a bit locked down.

It's definitely more powerful for SEO, but you gotta know what you're doing. It's not magic, still takes work to rank.

Can you actually export the code from Webflow? Or are you locked into their hosting forever once you build something?

G Gwen 2 months ago
You totally can export the code! It's one of the big advantages over some other builders. You get clean HTML, CSS, and JS.
5
R Ryan 2 months ago
Yeah, you can export it. I've done it before when a client wanted to host on their own server. Just remember some dynamic stuff might need adjustments if you're not using their CMS/hosting.
